Very hard-shelled gourds that have many uses for homesteaders and off-gridders. White blooms. They grow well on arches so the fruit can hang high above the soil and avoid powdery mildew on the leaves. Growth habit is similar to squash and cucumbers. Direct sow seeds into warm wet soil to speed germination. Black plastic over germination area can assist with speeding up this process. Curing gourds for birdhouse uses etc. can take 3 to 6 months. Keep in dry location away from any source of mould spores. Bleach any mold spots and continue to dry.
