Asian herb used from Thai to Japanese dishes such as pho, salad rolls, or Sushi. Can be paired with cilantro, Thai Basil, Mint and lettuce. Also can be grown as a microgreen. Can be grown in containers or in the garden. Easy to grow, however requires a slight cold stratification. Plant outdoors before last frost to allow for this cold stratification. (February, March or April). Perilla also requires a tiny bit of light to help germination so don't cover completely. Only allow for a slight covering of soil. Planting separation: 20-25cm. Sowing depth: 0.5 cm. Will germinate after cold stratification once soil warms so please be patient. Partial shade or Full sun. Well-drained yet moist nutrient rich soil. However avoid waterlogging. Plant height approx. 30-50cm. Annual.
