'Steeves Case Knife' - (Non-GMO) - Pole Bean Seeds - 25 Grams - (Heirloom)
30+ Seeds per Pack!
Steeves Case Knife is a rare Albert County, New Brunswick Heirloom Bean variety. They were used to make flavourful baked beans in place of the typical Navy Beans. Early settlers in Albert County would hang these bean pods above their wood stoves or lay them on the attic floor to dry on paper. Pole beans need 800 feet distance from other pole bean varieties to avoid cross-pollination. We need more people like you saving heirloom seed varieties to pass them on to the next generation. The seeds were produced by Angela MacDougal at Fundy Farms. Pole Beans should have a fence or trellis to grow upon to reach their full length and to keep the bean pods off the ground.
