Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before transplanting outside after all danger of frost has past. Cover seeds with 1/2 cm (1/4 in) of soil. Keep soil moist through germination. Maintain soil temperature of 24 C (75 F) through germination. Seed should germinate in 7–14 days. Transplant starter plants deep into pots, hanging baskets or outdoors covering most of the stem, leaving the leaves uncovered.
